You have to admire their logic...

One thing about summer is that with the boys home all day, they can make quite a mess! Dh told them to clean their room, and since he was apparently feeling generous, he told them they only needed to clean the playroom (figuring he'd have them do the bedroom the following day).

When he went upstairs to check on their progress, he found the playroom looking pretty good. But then he walked by the bedroom and noticed it looked worse than before. They apparently had decided to just move everything out of the playroom and into the bedroom. After all, they only had to clean the playroom, right? Makes sense from a 7-yr-old perspective I suppose.

He was not impressed, and told them since they did that now they could clean both rooms. When I heard about it, I cracked up laughing. I tried to stifle my laugh so the boys wouldn't hear me, but it was hard. Leave it to them to think of that! As dh said, it probably took them more effort to move everything to the other room than it would have taken to just clean it up (and certainly ended up in more work since they had to clean it all up anyway, of course!).

They're so clever. Too bad it backfired on them, they could just shuttle their toys from one room to the other every day.
