Birthday weekend: part 2

Saturday we had an informal birthday party for the boys with some presents, a cookout in the driveway, and a Pokemon cake. Our family was still here to help us celebrate, which was nice because we live far away so we don’t often get to celebrate birthdays with the grandparents (and great-grandmas!). And it worked out well because we started a tradition back when the boys turned 5 of doing parties with friends on odd years (in terms of their age, not the actual year) and parties with family on even years and this is an even year.

One of their presents was a slip’n’slide (a double one – what could be better for twins?) so a little while later we pulled that out and set it up for them.

Little Bitty kept his distance from the water at first. He was not interested in putting his swim trunks on. He was curious but didn't want to get wet. That didn't stop dh from spraying him...

Soon after that, Bitty turned exhibitionist and stripped down (completely) right there in the yard. It was pretty funny, I was taking pictures of Cuddlebug and Bearhug sliding and then looked up to see him pulling his shorts off. My mom looked up just in time to see his Thomas underwear go flying through the air as he kicked them off. He's fast... by the time I got to him (and I was only a few feet away) he was running happy-go-lucky and naked around the yard. Lucky for us, I had his swim trunks right there just in case he changed his mind, so I put those on him and he kept them on :).

Here he is trying to pick the grass off of his feet.

Cuddlebug (red) and Bearhug (blue) had fun chasing each other and racing down the slide.

Bitty preferred splashing in the little pool of water at the end of the slide.

But he finally decided to try sliding too.

Notice anything unusual in this picture?

They are both missing front teeth. Cuddlebug lost both of his front top teeth (on consecutive days). The same day he lost the second one, Bearhug lost one of his top front teeth also (it was his second one, he lost the other front tooth a while back). Needless to say, they kept the Tooth Fairy busy last week!

What a fun birthday party. I still remember how much fun slip n' slides were when I was younger!

What a wonderful birthday present! I'm sure they'll enjoy it for more months or years to come. Little Bitty looks so cute sliding! By the way, the tooth fairy must be exhausted after all those teeth came off! She'll be one happy fairy when she visits them!

How fun! The boys look like they're having a blast! Daniel will NOT wear swim trunks. He will only wear underwear, but at least he's wearing SOMETHING!
