Quotes & silly conversations of the week

Comments

Little Bitty: "Dude, iss cold ou'side!"
me: "Did you just call me dude?"
Bitty: "yeah"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cuddlebug (complaining about having to go to bed): "but I'm not even tired!"
dh: "when you're an adult, you can stay up as late as you want... are you an adult?"
Cuddlebug (slouching with a grin): "I'm not even 11 yet!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bearhug (hearing Cuddlebug calling him from the other room): "I'm busy! Mom, tell 'Cuddlebug' I'm busy."
me: "Why don't you tell him?"
Bearhug: "because I'm busy..."
I game him a look
Bearhug: "...I AM!"
(busy playing video games, lol)

So I went to tell Cuddlebug that Bearhug was busy.
Cuddlebug (also playing video games): "Tell him I made a great fort and the creepers can't get me!"
me: "Bearhug, Cuddlebug made a cool fort."
Bearhug: "tell him I made a magna-coil!"

Sigh... really?! so I told him and then managed to disappear before I could be asked to play carrier pigeon again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were saying bedtime prayers and it was Cuddlebug's turn to pray. After he finished, Bearhug asked if he could say one too, so of course we said yes.
Bearhug: "P.S. we hope me and Cuddlebug's fears go away. Amen."
(their 5th grade class did a language unit on the Greek origin of words, with a whole list of phobias as the vocabulary list and they have since "diagnosed" themselves with many of the phobias they learned about...).
dh: "P.S.?"
Bearhug: "yeah, Cuddlebug forgot that part."
dh: "P.S... Personal Secret"
I laughed, thinking he was making a joke, and then realized he was serious.
me: "Personal Secret?" hehe
dh: "yeah." (in his "what else would it be?" tone)
me: "that's not what P.S. means."
dh: "what does it mean then?"
me: "Post Script"
dh: "hehe Post Script, why would anyone say that?"
me: "because it goes after the end of a letter. Post. Script."
Bearhug: "then what does P.P.S. mean?"
me: "post-post-script."
Bearhug: "P.P.P.S.?"
yeah, you can see where that one's going... finally got him to stop and go to bed ;)
dh: "Nooo... it's a secret that people stick in at the end."
me: "hehe... it's not a secret anymore if they put it in a letter."
dh: "If that's what it means, why wouldn't they just go back and put it in the letter?"
me: "it's from when people didn't have word processing, if they forgot something they had to put a P.S. at the end and add it."
dh: "if that's true, then why do people still use it? that doesn't make sense! see, it's Personal Secret!"
LOL, I suppose there's some logic to that. Kind of reminds me of when he thought "liar liar pants on fire" was supposed to be "liar liar pacifier" (because you'd put a pacifier in their mouth to make them stop lying, of course). seriously he cracks me up!
To be fair I'm sure he has some of these on me, but conveniently I can't think of any at the moment. When and if he decides to write his own blog he can share and have a giggle at my silliness too :).
Quote of the day
Yesterday dh told Cuddlebug and Bearhug, "when I'm old, you can put my shoes on for me" (not sure what the context of that was, I missed the first part of that conversation).
Bearhug responded, "that's ok, Dada, but you're going to have to get strap shoes."
LOL, maybe it's time to teach the boys to tie shoes... we haven't really needed to since they wear shoes with velcro straps.
If you give a Dad a DS...
If you give a Dad a Nintendo DS...
He’s going to want to play some games. He might just want to play your favorite Pokemon game.
Once he gets started, he’s going to want to unlock new levels and find new Pokemon.
Then he might decide to hook it up to the wi-fi so he can chat with other Pokemon trainers online.
Next, he'll ask to borrow your Pokemon handbook so he can improve his chances of successful Pokemon battles.
When you ask for your game back, he’ll tell you, "just a few more minutes, I’m going to beat this level for you."
You might have to find something else to do for a while.
For a long while.
Several hours later, when you ask for your game back again, he’ll tell you again that he’s almost done.
Your mom will have to remind him that it’s not his game and make him give it back to you.
Later, you'll have to come back downstairs because you realize he still has your Pokemon handbook. He's busy studying up on the different types of Pokemon.
The next day, you’ll find him playing your game again. He might get worried when he thinks you released one of his prized Pokemon. He’ll be relieved when you show him the Pokemon is still there, it just evolved into a new form.
Your mom will roll her eyes at your dad’s barely concealed panic over what he thought was a lost Pokemon, but no one will notice.
He’s going to tell you he’s working on finding you some more new Pokemon. And he’ll tell you he’s "almost done."
Uh-huh.
You’re going to have to start hiding your Nintendo DS :).
Mondays in Motion #11: Snowball fight
6 comments
Mondays in Motion!
For the time being, I'm going to change "Mondays in Motion" to the first Monday of each month, rather than weekly. Since today is the first Monday of December, here goes!
With the cold temperatures lately, it seemed like a fun time to share a snowy video. My favorite part is the snowball fight toward the end, lol :).
It's your turn! If you don't make it today, feel free to join in anytime during the week. :)
Quotes and conversations of the week
6 comments
I haven't done one of these for a while but I have a few to share:
I gave the boys a heads-up that they have a doctor's appointment scheduled this week (checkup) and when they asked about shots, I told them they've probably get a flu shot but I think that's it. They had a lot of questions about what the flu shot is for, and what the flu is. We told them it's a virus that attacks your body.
Bearhug's response: "The flu virus trying to take over your body is like vampires trying to take over your house." LOL Yeah, something like that :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cuddlebug: "Did you know that I can fly? But I can only fly down."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Little Bitty (hearing it was bedtime): "No WAY!!" LOL where did he hear that?
me: Yes WAY!!! (he was not impressed)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bearhug: "Where's my report card money? Is it invisible?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cuddlebug: "Someone who's an expert at something, was once a beginner."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

dh (commenting on his birthday): "I guess I'm closer to 40 now than to 35."
me: "no, you're only 36"
dh (excited): "really? I thought I was 37. Wow, I just gained a whole year!" (nevermind the fact that technically 37 is also closer to 35 than to 40)
me (taking a little time to do the math in my head): "wait, no you're right. You're 37"
dh: "Aww, man!! Now I just lost a year again!"

Stunning revelation (if you're dh)

10 comments
So last night we were eating dinner and watching "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" when all of a sudden I hear dh exclaim, "Widget is a GIRL?!?" (for those unfamiliar with Wubbzy and his friends, that's Widget on the left, Wubbzy in the middle, and Walden on the right).

Cuddlebug and Bearhug both replied matter-of-factly, "Yes, Widget is a girl." Dh looks at me. "Did you know Widget is a girl?" Um, yes. She's pink, wears a pink outfit (with a heart on it), and sounds like a girl. I was a little surprised that he thought Widget was a boy. He went back to eating his dinner and watching the show.

A few minutes later, another exclamation, "Widget is a GIRL?!?" Me, ROFL. Yes! Widget is a girl (thought we just went over that a few minutes ago?). Apparently, this was life-altering information that he was having a hard time coming to grips with.

Just in case there is any lingering doubt, if you listen to the song at the beginning of the show, it refers to Widget as "she/her" and both Wubbzy and Walden as "he/him" so it's confirmed.

Dh cracks me up.
