A Close Shave

Comments

Bitty acting out a scene from "A Close Shave for Duck" (from Thomas, of course), with a bubble beard :).

His favorite episodes are the ones with crashes (of course!) and his favorite line, which we hear repeated often as he throws himself to the floor, is "... but it was TOO LATE!!" lol

Have I mentioned how much I love seeing him pretend play? :D

We're in luck! Thomas clothes in bigger sizes

6 comments
Just wanted to share this for anyone else who may be in a similar predicament, as well as for my own reference so I don't lose it :).

~~~~~~
I'm pretty sure I have commented before about how Bitty will only wear clothes with Thomas on them. And how we have up until now been unable to find Thomas clothes larger than size 5 (and those are hard enough to come by). His 4T's are getting small, and his size 5's won't be far behind. Just a matter of time...
Well, it looks like we'll be able to delay the inevitable for a few more years, and hopefully by then he will have broadened out his "acceptable clothing" list to include non-Thomas attire.
I found a site called Totally Thomas that carries Thomas shirts up to size Youth Large (12-14). Granted, there's not much selection that big, but there are a couple... and there's a decent selection up to child size 7.
AND there's more... they also carry Thomas underwear up to size 8. How cool is that? I've never seen anything above toddler sizes at the store.
Amazing how something so seemingly mundane has really made my day, but I know ya'll know where I'm coming from! ;)
Bitty's trains
6 comments
I love his pudgy little fingers :)
He likes setting his trains up like this, with one precariously about to "fall." In this case, it's Oliver.
He kept telling me, "da terr-taybuh iss wet" (the turntable is wet). Turns out he was re-enacting this scene from the video, "Oliver Owns Up:"
I'm not sure where the "wet" turntable came in, maybe he was saying the turntable well since that's where Oliver crashed? Anyway, I think his version of the scene looks pretty accurate, no? :)
I got a close-up of Oliver, which he wanted to see (on the camera's screen).
He really liked that, so he wanted me to take pictures of some of his other trains :).
Desperately seeking Skarloey
8 comments
I’ve blogged before about how we keep a box of trains in the attic and just a few out at a time to play with, and Bitty will often come around asking for specific ones he wants me to bring down. Every now and then when there are too many out, I take a bunch of them up and we start over. We finally brought the whole box down a few days ago and put it into a closet because I got tired of climbing up to the attic on search & rescue missions several times a day. Anyway, a few weeks ago, he wanted me to bring Skarloey down.
I searched and searched for Skarloey but couldn’t find him. I brought down one of Skarloey’s friends, Rheneas, instead and told him Skarloey was “all gone.” He wasn’t happy about it but he moved on. Sort of.
He keeps asking me for Skarloey. And I keep telling him I don’t know what happened to Skarloey. He’s all gone. And now Bitty seems to have gone into a sort of mourning. He comes up to me several times a day to tell me, “Skah-wowee aww gone,” and I confirm that yes, Skarloey is still all gone.
I remind him that he has Rheneas, Stepney, and Sir Handel and can play with them (they are all fellow narrow gauge engines who are friends with Skarloey, and yes, I should probably be embarrassed that I am so familiar with the Thomas characters but what can I say?). I know he likes to set up scenes from Thomas books and videos with his toys and I’m sure there’s one with Skarloey that he wants to do and can’t, and it’s probably driving him nuts. About as nuts as he’s driving me with the constant proclamations of “Skah-wowee aww gone.”
I have looked everywhere I can think to look. Eventually we’re going to have to just buy another one, maybe for Christmas if we can last that long (ha!). It’s not that I mind buying one, but my goodness we have sooo many trains. Our family has been slowly collecting Thomas trains (the little metal ones) for about 6 years now. And chances are, as soon as we buy one, the original Skarloey will turn up somewhere...
Uh-oh...
11 comments
Little Bitty won't watch Yo Gabba Gabba anymore. He still sings the songs, but he no longer wants to watch it on tv (time to clear out the 15 or so episodes we have recorded on DVR? maybe not yet). Instead, he says, "es-ahcha noos" (let's watch the news). That's what we get for trying to talk him into watching the news instead of Yo Gabba Gabba (as a joke) when that was all he wanted to watch :).
The only problem with that is, most of his Christmas presents are Yo Gabba Gabba things. A guitar, a little playset with the characters, even a DVD that we were planning to give him early for our upcoming trip. Hmm... it's all wrapped up, hopefully he'll still like them! I'm pretty sure he'll still like the guitar, he LOVES music and always wants to play along when we play Guitar Hero (now he can, lol).
Guess what else - after months of only wanting to wear Thomas clothes, all day every day, this morning he didn't want to wear Thomas and asked me for a shirt with "pamets" (planets). AAAHHHH! I don't have a shirt with planets! And we spent all that money buying Thomas shirts! My mom bought him long-sleeve Thomas shirts for Christmas since he doesn't like to wear his "non-Thomas" long sleeve shirts (although I have on occasion been able to convince him that a red shirt is a "James" shirt, hehe). He even made a stink about wearing his Thomas underwear, and that's the only underwear he has. Here's hoping he was just tired and cranky this morning (well, he was) and that this isn't really the start of a new trend. Sigh.
