SEW & WW: Brotherly love

Comments
From this year's Christmas pictures, this is one of my favorites (of course they weren't all so loving, remember the outtakes? lol).

Cuddlebug told me recently, "Mom, me and Bearhug were MADE for each other!"

Totally out of the blue. How sweet is that?

WW & SEW: Sleepy boy

Comments
Little Bitty was so tired, he feel asleep before bedtime. He curled up and fell asleep in the cat bed :).

The cat was unimpressed.

SEW & WW: My sweet Bearhug

Bearhug has been doing really well lately.

It's so nice to see his beautiful smile :).

He has an inner strength and courage, that I'm not sure if he even recognizes yet. I've seen it from the time he was a baby, and it has only grown since then.

He has the physical strength to match, and is well-known for his lung-crushing bearhugs. Yet he is a gentle person with a caring heart.

He loves being a big brother.

I love him :).

SEW & WW: First bike ride

Last month we put some training wheels on Bearhug's old bike so that Little Bitty could start learning to ride. He is, after all, about the same age that his brothers were when we got their first bikes.

He was sooo excited!

Dh started off walking with him (even though he had the training wheels on).

Once it seemed that Bitty was getting the hang of it, dh let go.

Of course, after pedaling just a few feet, Bitty decided to try making a turn...

...which would've been no big deal, except that he turned at the high point of the hill in the yard.

Dh and I both went running to catch him before he crash-landed at the bottom... dh made it there first so I snapped a picture (hehe).

As you can see by the big grin, Bitty wasn't scared at all. He thought it was great fun and wanted to ride down the hill again! Uh... no, Bitty. Stick to the sidewalks, little dude!

SEW & WW: Down on the farm

Bitty loves farm animals. He has a birthday coming up in a couple of months so I think we're going to take him to a local petting zoo to see the animals.

SEW & WW: Puppy

Bitty and his buddy, "Puppy." Unfortunately, he thought it was funny to throw Puppy down the stairs, despite countless times of being told not to and having Puppy taken away for a while when he did. So now poor Puppy has lost his "voice" and no amount of "bah-reees" (batteries) can fix him, but Bitty still loves to carry him around and play with him. In fact, just the other day, he was reviewing animal cards with Puppy. I was so impressed with his pretend play and tried to get a video but wasn't fast enough.

Next time... :)

SEW & WW: Christmas Eve

Hot chocolate
Christmas movies (The Grinch, old-school cartoon version, and Polar Express)
Candles
A warm fire
Three happy and excited boys (minus the one meltdown when I wouldn't let a certain 4-yr-old climb to the top of the cat post, he eventually got over it)

What more could a mom want on Christmas Eve?

WW & SEW: It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas!

Yep, that's my Little Bitty actually showing a real interest in Christmas for the first time, woo-hoo! He even helped decorate the tree, along with his very excited and impatient big brothers :).

SEW & WW: Like Uncle, Like Nephew

When we were kids, my younger brother used to go running to look at airplanes whenever he heard one flying overhead, which was pretty often because we lived on an Air Force Base. If we were inside, he ran for the window :).

That memory came to mind this past weekend when the boys and I were in the garage (with the door open) and we heard an airplane flying by. Bitty perked right up and went running outside to catch a glimpse of the plane:

SEW & WW: Back to school

Well, I didn't manage to get pictures of the boys before leaving the house on the first day of school, but I took my camera and got some pictures while we waited in the carpool line and just after the boys got out of the car.

As you can see, Bearhug didn't feel like going along with the wear-something-nice-on-the-first-day gameplan (which we encouraged but weren't going to force anyway). He was really nervous about his first day so we didn't make a big deal out of it.

Cuddlebug did, which kind of surprised me because usually he is pretty strict on only wearing shirts with collars at church.

The biggest surprise was Little Bitty. Based on his behavior last week (not to mention every other time he has returned to school after a break), we were prepared for some major resistance - of the kicking, screaming, grabbing onto the doorframe of the house and car variety. However, ever since his open house he has seemed excited about going to school, and sure enough on the first day he was really cooperative and happy to be going.

Blew. us. away!!

And not only that, we figured just for fun we'd see if he'd let us put on a non-Thomas shirt, and he actually did! Well, the distraction of the Oreo might have helped. ;)

SEW & WW: Cuddlebug & Bearhug

Just some random pictures I took of Bearhug and Cuddlebug playing:

Oops, busted. Bearhug looks annoyed that I'm taking pictures of them.

It's not unusual for the boys to still be in motion while playing their games... not sure I could play in these positions but it works for them.

SEW & WW: Visitors

We've had some interesting visitors this spring / summer, including the frog a while back, and then a few weeks ago we found this guy in our garage, making himself at home on one of the boys' bikes:

And about a week ago, Bambi wandered out of the forest behind our house (it's protected land, and sometimes the deer wander out to see what they can find to snack on. A neighbor around the corner has a vegetable garden and we've seen deer foraging around there at night several times). I couldn't get too close without scaring him off, but I did manage to get a couple of pictures of him (and these are cropped so you can see him better).

SEW & WW: Miracles

These were taken when Cuddlebug and Bearhug were 4 days old. They were so tiny and fragile! Last Friday, these brave and resilient little boys celebrated their 8th birthday. I am truly blessed and grateful to be their mother.
