Sweetness

Comments
Little Bitty actually sleeps in his own bed these days (that was a several-years-long process) but he likes for me to stay with him until he falls asleep. On the rare days that I try to just tuck him in and not climb in next to him, he reminds me, "you wan' to sweep wif me." He's just too cute, and I know I'm going to miss this time when he's older (I already do with Cuddlebug and Bearhug) so I just go with it :).

Anyway, so tonight I was laying there next to him, waiting for him to go to sleep when he reached over and put his little arm around me, patted me on the back and said, "I wuv you."

Heart MELT!!!!

It is SOOO rare for him to say that out of the blue like that, every now and then he says it back when I tell him (which of course I tell him all the time, his response is usually a smile).

I hugged him and told him, "you are SO sweet!"

To which he responded, "I DO wook sweet!"

I couldn't help but laugh because it was so cute the way he said it (reminded me of when Bearhug used to respond to my telling him he was cute by saying, "I AM cute!" lol).

Not sure how to interpret my laugh, he asked me, "aww you jus' kidding?" (he asks that because we joke a lot at our house and he knows that laughter is a cue that someone is kidding).

"No, I'm not kidding. You ARE sweet."

He smiled and rolled over, snuggling in his blankies.

He's sleeping now, I definitely wanted to write this down right away because it's one of those happy moments that I want to always remember in detail :).

Comforting others

Comments
Here's one for my journal... my boys are such sweet blessings :).

~~~~~~~~~~~
I started feeling a headache come on as I was leaving work to head home. Due to icy roads it took longer than usual to get home, and by the time I got there I thought it might be a migraine. But it wasn't too bad yet and I knew dh and the boys had been waiting for me to get home so we could get out before the roads froze over yet again.
I took my migraine medicine and headed out the door, hopeful that it would start feeling better by the time we got there.
I should have known better...
It just kept getting worse and soon the pounding in my head was joined by nausea. Not good. Dh suggested I go try to rest in the car and I didn't argue. Of course, Bitty is my shadow when I'm home so he came with me.
He was oblivious to the fact that I wasn't feeling well (still working on recognizing those non-verbal cues), and wanted me to read to him. I knew he wouldn't understand "migraine" and probably not "headache" either, so I just told him "Mama's sick. How about if you read to me instead?"
He agreed but must have found something else to do because he never actually did start reading.
Soon dh and the boys came out to the car and were ready to go home. As we walked into the house, Cuddlebug gave me a close, intense look (which I only saw because I had to open my eyes enough to see where I was going). He must have been taking in the hands on my forehead, squinted eyes, and probably a grimace to go with it, because he said in a concerned tone, "Mom, that looks like it really hurts!" "yeah," I answered, "but I'll be fine. I just need to rest." I didn't want him to worry. He patted me on the arm. "I hope you feel better, Mom." So sweet.
The next morning I woke up and it wasn't gone so I had to take a sick day. Bearhug came in to see how I was doing. I tried to smile and told him I was a little better and just needed to rest some more. A few minutes later, he came back carrying his dinosaur pillow pet, which he named "Tri" because he's a triceratops.
"Here's Tri, you can cuddle him if you want."
What a sweetheart :).
A few minutes later he came back. "I decided dat since you stayed with me all night when I was sick, I should come sit wif you." (he had a really bad ear infection recently, all better now thank goodness!)
"Aww, that's really sweet honey, but you don't have to."
"I'll enjoy it!"
Bless his heart. He brought his DS and the new app he'd downloaded that's a music game. The music is actually pretty relaxing, so he thought that might help. Turns out it did, and I was eventually able to fall asleep.
School celebrations
Comments
I had a chance to visit each of the boys' classrooms for their end-of-year parties.
I was looking forward to meeting "A", the little girl that Bitty talks about all. the. time. When he was invited to a birthday party, he wanted to get a present for A, even though it wasn't her party. Sometimes, when he is especially cranky in the morning, I can remind him that he'll get to see A at school and he perks up :).
His teachers told me that whenever he goes through the line in the cafeteria and they ask for his name, instead of giving his first name, he says "Mr. 'Circles'" (not actually "Circles" but his last name). They also told me there's a little girl in his class who gives her name as "Mrs. 'Circles'" Oh my. lol
Little Bitty Santa :)
The next day was Cuddlebug and Bearhug's party. They are still rather unaware of girls (yay! hehe) although as we've come to notice over the last few months, girls are not so unaware of them (ack! but that's a whole other post).
Bearhug and Cuddlebug working on Christmas ornaments
The 4th and 5th graders in the ASD program have been working to earn "dollars" and the teachers donated items they could spend them on to buy gifts for their families. The boys pooled their resources :) to buy a special present for dh and I, and they were SOOO excited to show it to us. They had it all wrapped up but they were pinging off the walls with excitement so we asked if they'd like us to go ahead and open it up that day instead of waiting for Christmas, and they said yes so we did :).
They got us a foot massager, the "best piece of furniture ever" :). They are so sweet! We filled it up with water to try it out right away, and everyone took a turn. Here's Cuddlebug testing it out :).
Even Little Bitty gave it a try :).
It was an especially great present because they put so much effort into being able to earn it and then choosing just the right item they wanted to give us. Such sweet boys!
Heart
CB: "It's a heart, Mom. Dat means Looove."
me: "It's beautiful, thank you!"
BH: "Yeah, we worked really hard at school to earn dat so we could give it to you."
CB: "Aren't you glad you have us?"
More than you could possibly know... I am blessed beyond measure every day to have these boys in my life. I gave them each a big hug.
"Of course, I love all of you boys more than anything!"
CB: "I wuv you too, Mom. I wuv my whole family more den anyfing too. Even more den I wuv Pokemon."
I couldn't help but smile :). "Wow, that's a lot!"
"Yeah," he agreed, "cuz I wuv Pokemon a whole bunch!"
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my babies? :)
~~~~~~~~~

Oh, and that reminds me of another ring that Cuddlebug gave me recently, at his school's party a couple of weeks ago.

Sadly, I didn't get a picture of it before Bitty wanted to play with it and I never saw it again... but it's a funny story so I'll describe it to you.

It was one of those plastic rings that comes on the top of cupcakes, and it was huge. About 1 1/2 inches of green plastic lettering saying, "Ho Ho Ho!"

Cuddlebug presented it to me with a flourish and said, "I cweaned it for you, Mom!"

"Aww, thanks, I love it!" I briefly wondered how he cleaned the frosting off with no water nearby, and decided I probably didn't want to know so I didn't ask. I put the ring on my finger and showed it to him.

Maybe he read my mind, because he was eager to share exacly how he had cleaned the ring for me.

"I wick'd it, Mom! I cweaned it wif my tongue!"

I had to laugh. Of course he did. I smiled and told him, "that's kind of gross, but you did a pretty good job."

I left it on, slobber and all, the rest of the day (until Bitty confiscated it, that is).
